The autumnal equinox begins as the angle of the sun's rays decreases to 60 degrees.

The AlOjeiri Scientific Center announced that Kuwait will experience an equal number of daylight and nighttime hours on Friday, September 27, marking the onset of the autumn season.

The center stated in a comment to "Al-Rai" that "summer officially ends on September 22 every year, when the sun's rays are directly over the equator, marking the beginning of equal day and night, known as the autumnal equinox." It further explained that "the equinox occurs as the angle of the sun's rays decreases to 60 degrees in Kuwait's sky."

It continued, "The equal hours of day and night in Kuwait will occur on the 27th of this month, with the sun rising at exactly 5:39 a.m. and setting at exactly 5:39 p.m."

The center also noted that with the autumnal equinox, night hours will gradually increase at the expense of daylight, and the dominance of longer nights will continue until the arrival of spring.

The center explained that the Earth's orbit around the sun results in the apparent movement of the sun's rays north and south, passing over the equator. This causes the sun's rays to reach the northern and southern extremities of Earth at specific times, with the sun's rays being directly over the equator twice a year—once at the beginning of spring (the vernal equinox) on March 20, and again at the start of autumn (the autumnal equinox) in late September each year.
