Both the Al Ajiry Scientific Center and the Qatar Calendar House have announced, according to precise astronomical calculations conducted by specialists, that the beginning of the month of Shawwal for the year 1445 (the first day of Eid al-Fitr) will astronomically fall on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. The center, in a joint press statement with the Qatar Calendar House, added that the Shawwal crescent for this year will be born on the evening of Monday, April 8th (the day of observation) at 9:22 PM Kuwait and Doha time (6:22 PM Universal Time). According to astronomical calculations, it will be impossible to sight the Shawwal crescent for the year 1445 Hijri on the evening of the observation day in the skies of Kuwait, Qatar, and all Arab and Islamic countries because the crescent will not have been born at sunset on that day. The center pointed out that the Shawwal crescent will remain visible for 55 minutes on the evening of Tuesday and can be sighted, with a slight deviation in its shape. Therefore, based on astronomical calculations, Ramadan will complete its blessed month of 30 days. The center also mentioned that the timing for Eid al-Fitr prayer will be on Wednesday at exactly 5:43 AM Kuwait time. It emphasized that the decision regarding the beginning of the month of Shawwal remains under the jurisdiction of the moon sighting authority
