The Al Ojeiri Scientific Center and Qatar Calendar House announced that, according to precise astronomical calculations, the first day of Eid al-Fitr will fall on Wednesday, April 10th. The center and the house added, in a joint statement, that the Shawwal crescent for this year will be born on the evening of April 8th (the day of observation) at 9:22 PM Kuwait and Doha time. Consequently, it will be impossible to sight the crescent that evening in the skies of Kuwait, Qatar, and all Arab and Islamic countries, because it will not have been born at sunset on that day. They clarified that the Shawwal crescent will stay visible for 55 minutes on the evening of April 9th, and based on astronomical calculations, Ramadan will complete its blessed month of 30 days.
